It’s time to binge.
netflixMikelle StreetCanadian comedy Schitt’s Creek has become an internationally beloved show. And though it will begin its final season in January, the fifth season is available for streaming on Netflix right now! Oh, yay, David! Yay!
Schitt’s has become a bit of a cultural phenomenon — so much so that when they put more than 800 pieces of clothing from the set up for sale, the almost sold out within a few hours. That doesn’t even consider all of the awards the show has been nominated for (there were four Emmy noms in July,) and won. And now, you can watch the fifth season on demand.
The show’s strength begins with its creator, Dan Levy, who recently signed a major deal with ABC.
“I’m thrilled to be partnering with ABC Studios in this exciting next chapter,” Levy told The Hollywood Reporter. “As I say a bittersweet goodbye to Schitt’s Creek, I look forward to the opportunity and privilege to continue to tell inclusive and meaningful stories that shine a positive light out there.”
On Schitt’s, Levy specifically set out to create the surrounding town as a place without homophobia. And within it, he putts the lovable, though eccentric, down on their luck Rose family.
The fifth season is “just the most joyful season we’ve done so far,’ Levy told Out when the season originally premiered. “We’ve gotten a lot of the emotional bedrock laid, and now we're just having fun.”
“We're pairing characters with different characters that they've never been paired before, we're expanding the world of the show and taking our characters outside of the town, we're building on relationships and tragedy. And ultimately, continuing to tell the story of this family slowly but surely realizing that money means nothing in the end.”
