The show also just announced when the new season will premiere.
RuPaul's Drag RaceMikelle StreetAnother day, another RuPaul announcement! With so many shows out there, it looks like the queen of drag wants to expand her territory.
Over the last few years RuPaul’s Drag Race and RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars have aired on VH1 — this, of course, came after airing on Logo for years. But come All Stars 5, a change is in store. While RuPaul’s Drag Race season 12 is due out on VH1 next week, All Stars 5 is headed over to Showtime. Talk about the gag of the season.
As you can guess, it’s all still under the same house. Both VH1 and Showtime (and even Logo for that matter) all fall under the very large ViacomCBS umbrella. The move is just to help out Showtime as they rebrand and expand according to Variety.
The trade publication stated that the season will “air first” on Showtime — maybe that means we will get the deal RuPaul’s Drag Race U.K. got and it will air first on Showtime, and then a week or so later on VH1. We’ll keep you updated.
As for when to expect the season? Well ladies, get ready for Pride season: RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars season 5 will hit on June 5. As you may know, Showtime is a premium cable so we’ll see you at the fancy bars who are having viewing parties too. Still no word on RuPaul’s Celebrity Drag Race and when that’s premiering, but let’s focus on this first.
