Ok, but given COVID, can we get it a little early?
Mikelle StreetThere are very few things that we have amid the COVID-19 outbreak. With the coronavirus outbreak on the rise, many events have been cancelled and so we are left with working from home, scrolling through social media and bingeing some of our favorite shows. One of those shows: Schitt's Creek. And good news, there's more Schitt's related content on the way.
Recent episodes of the show which has become a global hit, have been a bit bittersweet. As we hurtle toward the impending marriage of David Rose and Patrick Brewer, fans are excited for the union but saddened that with it comes the end of the show. And while the cast has confirmed that there will be a comedy tour set to kick off in May— although that's likely to be rescheduled given the coronavirus — it seemed the season would be the end of Schitt's on television. Well, there's at least one more project!
"Some nice news in a dark time!' show creator Dan Levy wrote to Instagram. "This clip contains spoilers!"
According to the post, on April 7th, when the finale of the show airs, it will be joined by an hour-long special. Titled Best Wishes, Warmest Regards: A Schitt's Creek Farewell, that special includes behind the scenes footage and commentary by Levy and the team on creating special Schitt's moments. In the especially emotional moments, cast can be seen wiping tears from their eyes during taping. The special will air on Pop TV, Comedy Central, and Logo.
According to a release it will also take fans into "wardrobe fittings, the emotional final table read, audition tapes, and more." You can also expect interviews with others like celebrity superfans Paula Abdul, Amy Sedaris, and Johnny Weir, as well as others.
“As we celebrate the end of Schitt's Creek, we couldn’t do it without creating a special TV moment to send this historic series out on top,“ Brad Schwartz, Pop TV president, said in a statement. “This must-watch behind the scenes doc is the perfect way to honor a series that has made an impact in so many people’s lives, with enduring characters and stories filled with heart, humor and honesty that will stand the test of time.”
