After about two months of competition, Drag Race Holland has announced its first winner. Having started the competition with ten competitors, the crowned queen will be awarded with a crown by Fierce Drag Jewels, the title of first Dutch Drag Super Star, a 10-page spread in Dutch Cosmopolitan, as well as a dress by designer Claes Iversen

The finale episode began with four finalists: Ma’Ma Queen, Miss Abby OMG, Janey Jacke, and Envy Peru. While the show was originally slated to have three finalists, in the semi-finals host Fred van Leer decided to save both Ma’Ma Queen and Miss Abby OMG who were in the bottom.

For the final challenges, the four were asked to perform a group medley performance to RuPaul tracks like “Sissy That Walk” and “Supermodel.” They also did an in-depth podcast interview with Leer and judge Nikki Plessen. They also turned up on the runway in their “best drag.” For that appearance, Jacke wore a winged vintage look that was inspired by Victoria’s Secret, Abby went dark with Queen of the Damned inspirations, Envy Peru looked to Dita Von Teese, and Ma’Ma Queen chose a look that bored on psychedelic. But in the end, only one queen would win.

“Dear Envy Peru,” RuPaul said in a video message at the episode’s end. “Condragulations, you’re a winner baby.” Peru joins a line-up composed exclusively of queens of color that won seasons of RuPaul’s Drag Race iterations in 2020: Jaida Essence Hall won Drag Race season 12, Shea Coulee won All Stars 6, and Priyanka won Canada’s Drag Race.RuPaul’s Drag Race U.K. didn’t air a season this year due to the ongoing global pandemic but is expected to return in early 2021.

Peru made a reputation for herself on the show as the queen to beat. She won four maxi challenges, more than any other performer this season, and awed judges week after week on the Main Stage. In the finale episode she revealed she came out at the age of 21 after dealing with internalized homophobia, but earlier in the season when her mother appeared on the show she revealed that her coming out caused a rift within her family. In the finale episode, after Abby and Ma'Ma Queen were sent home, Peru faced off against Jacke in a stunning lip-sync to Lady Gaga's "Born This Way." It was her first time lip-syncing on the show.

Peru was also notably the most-followed queen on Instagram before Drag Race Holland began.

For the top slot she beat out Megan Schoonbrood, Patty Pam-Pam, Sederginne, Madame Madness, ChelseaBoy, Roem, and the other finalists. Sederginne, ChelseaBoy, Jacke, and Peru all made big impressions early on in the competition. Sederginne's elimination came as a surprise, and was a sore spot for the performer as she noted in the finale on her return. On the mainstage, her look even seemed to reference the look she wore when she was eliminated. ChelseaBoy's elimination also came as a surprise but was likely a result of her wig coming off during her lip-sync. Likewise, Abby's placement in the final four was a surprise to many but the queen grew during her Drag Race journey, appearing in four lip-syncs and sending three competitors home.

While Drag Race Holland hasn’t officially announced a second season, during the finale Leer did reference it twice. You can watch the entire first season on WOW Presents Plus.
