After crowning Priyanka as the winner of its first season, Canada's Drag Race has announced that it would return for a second. The announcement came via a simple post on the show's official Instagram account.
"Category is: Canada's Drag Race season 2," the account posted in a caption. "Do you think you're Canada's Next Drag Superstar? Tap the link in bio to apply now."
The announcement comes months after the first season wrapped and as we are already set for a year bursting with Drag Race content. RuPaul's Drag Race season 13 began airing on January 1. RuPaul's Drag Race U.K. will air series two beginning this month as well. All Stars six is also expected this year, as is Drag Race U.K. series three, while Drag Race Spain will debut its first-ever season. While we are not anticipating Vegas Revue to make its return, we are certainly holding out hope for Secret Celebrity Drag Race.
The first season of Canada's Drag Race didn't feature a host. Instead, the franchise opted for allowing its three main judges — Brooke Lynn Hytes, Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman, and Stacey McKenzie — trade-off the duties. It is unclear as of now whether they will all return to judge. As a result of backlash from the show, Bowyer-Chapman deleted his Twitter account and limited comments on his Instagram.
The first season of Canada's Drag Race aired on Crave in Canada, and Wow Presents Plus internationally — the same setup is expected for the second. 12 queens competed in the first season including: Anastarzia Anaquway, Boa, Ilona Verley, Jimbo, Juice Boxx, Kiara, Kyne, Lemon, Priyanka, Rita Baga, Scarlett Bobo, and Tynomi Banks. Guest judges included Michelle Visage, Deborah Cox, and more.
