Ma Rainey, Jim Parsons, Andra Day and more were also tapped.

This morning the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, named the nominees for the 2021 Golden Globe awards, and, like we thought, LGBTQ+ talent and shows was present throughout. You know what that is? Taste.
The beloved Schitt's Creek is up for three nominations this year after a history-making night at the Emmys in 2020. For its final season, the show has been tapped for Best Television Series, Musical or Comedy, while cast like Catherine O'Hara and Dan Levy have been nominated for Best Actress in a TV Series, Musical or Comedy and Best Supporting Actor, Television respectively. Levy will find himself facing off against Jim Parsons who is also nominated for his role in Netflix's Hollywood. Eugene Levy and Annie Murphy were also nominated, making for a total of five noms.
But Hollywood isn't the only Ryan Murphy project that got a nod: Ratched is up for Best Television Series, Drama, and Sarah Paulson is up for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series, Drama for her work there, while Cynthia Nixon is up for Best Supporting Actress. James Corden is (regrettably) up for his performance in The Prom as Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy, while the entire film is up for Best Picture, Musical or Comedy.
The Queen's Gambit, with its blink and you'll miss it queer moment, is up for Best Limited Series while actress Anya Taylor-Joy has been recognized for her work with a Best Performance by an Actress nomination.
Netflix was certainly well loved: in addition to Hollywood, Ratched, The Prom, and Queen's Gambit, other LGBTQ+ inclusive projects not nods like Ma Rainey's Black Bottom. For that, Viola Davis was nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture, Drama while Chadwick Boseman was nominated for Best Performance by an actor in a Motion Picture, Drama. While Emily in Paris, another Netflix original, doesn't have any LGBTQ+ storylines or characters yet, it's the creation of Darren Star, an out showrunner.
And while it hasn't been released broadly yet, The United States vs. Billie Holiday has snagged two nominiations: Best Original Song, Motion Picture and Best Performance by an Actress for Andra Day.
