"We’re going to give families a clean slate and show them how to style their new space and apply the ‘to-do’ and ‘not-to-do’ list to the rest of the house,” the star said.
Raven-SymoneMey RudeRaven-Symoné is ready to redesign your house.
The signer, actor, and host is going to be starring in a new spin-off of the hit fashion makeover show What Not to Wear, tentatively titled What Not to Design.
In the one hour pilot, Raven-Symoné and her team will visit homes across America with tacky decor or over the top toy collections and help the families get a more comfortable living space. She’ll be joined on the road by designer Nina Ferrer from HGTV’s Design Star and craftsman James Wortham.
The team will meet with homeowners and help them overhaul their living spaces. They’ll throw some stuff out, keep some, and sell some online to add to their decorating budget.
“Style mistakes are not confined to clothing,” Raven-Symoné said in a release. “Bad design prevents people from living well and truly enjoying their homes. We’re going to give families a clean slate and show them how to style their new space and apply the ‘to-do’ and ‘not-to-do’ list to the rest of the house.”
What Not To Wear was originally a British show that started airing in 2001 where hosts gave normal people fashion makeovers. In 2003, an American version was made that ran on TLC for a decade. In 2019, the network announced a revival of the series. Longtime host Stacy London came out and showed the world her girlfriend in 2020.
Raven-Symoné got married last year to social media manager Miranda Pearman-Maday. In June she posted that the two had an intimate wedding on their property.
“I got married to a woman who understands me from trigger to joy, from breakfast to midnight snack, from stage to home,"Raven-Symoné posted on Instagram. "I love you Mrs. Pearman-Maday! Let's tear this world a new a-hole.”
Raven-Symoné first became a star as a child when she played Olivia on The Cosby Show. As a teen she became a regular on the Disney Channel, starring as Raven Baxter, a girl with psychic powers, in the series That's So Raven, and starring in Disney Channel Original Movies like Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century and the Cheetah Girls movies.
From 2015-2016 she was a co-host on the talk show The View. Since 2017, she’s starred in Raven’s House, a reboot of That's So Raven. She won a Daytime Emmy for the show.
She first came out in 2014 when she told Oprah Winfrey that she dated both men and women and used to be dating model AzMarie Livingston. In 2016 she opened up about how being in the entertainment industry from such a young age made her worried she’d never be able to come out.
