In Spectrum's 'Eden,' a Queer Woman's Disappearance Upends Paradise

There’s trouble in paradise.

In Eden, an upcoming Spectrum Originals series, the disappearance of a woman, Hedwig (BeBe Bettencourt, The Dry), after a party throws the lives of those around her into chaos. Standing in the center of the storm is her friend and lover, Scout (Sophie Wilde, Bird).

Set in the stunning Byron Bay, Australia, the eight-episode series unveils the darkness underlying even in beautiful places and faces. Secrets are revealed as each episode shifts to a new character, who provides new clues through a different set of eyes. Additionally, many of the characters are fluid, bringing much-needed queer representation to the mystery drama genre.

In addition to its queer themes, LGBTQ+ TV watchers will be pleased to see Love, Simon star Keiynan Lonsdale appearing in each episode as Cam. The attractive cast also includes  Cody Fern (American Horror Story), Christopher James Baker (True Detective), Alexandria Steffensen (Neighbours), Claude Jabbour (Stateless), Jenna Owen (Squinters), Dustin Clare (Pacific Rim: Uprising), Anastasia Usoltseva, Priscilla Doueily, and Shakira Clanton.

Also notable, Eden, created by Vanessa Gazy, has a writer’s room comprised entirely of women, including Gazy, Anya Beyersdorf, Jess Brittain, Penelope Chai, and Clare Sladden.
