If you love drama, you should already be watching Hulu's queer-inclusive series Nine Perfect Strangers

Based on the novel of the same name from Big Little Lies mastermind Liane Moriarty and starring an A-List ensemble cast that includes Oscar-winning screen legend Nicole Kidman, Melissa McCarthy, Michael Shannon, Regina Hall, Manny Jacinto, Samara Weaving, Bobby Cannavale, and out heartthrob Luke Evans as an openly gay character named Lars, the series "takes place at a boutique health-and-wellness resort that promises healing and transformation as nine stressed city dwellers try to get on a path to a better way of living," according to the official description.

"Watching over them during this 10-day retreat is the resort's director, Masha (Kidman), a woman on a mission to reinvigorate their tired minds and bodies. However, these nine 'perfect' strangers have no idea what is about to hit them."

In an exclusive clip for Out from Nine Perfect Strangers' upcoming fifth episode, Luke Evans' Lars is sweating it out in a stone sauna with Zoe (Grace Van Patten) when he starts confiding in her, talking more about his emotional backstory, including how his relationship with his partner dissolved and how his father probably wanted nothing to do with him simply for being gay.

"It's what broke up my relationship," Lars says when asked by Zoe about his hang-ups with having kids one day. "Ray wants to have a child, and his sister even volunteered to be the surrogate. I just...I don't go there."

"Why not?" Zoe asks.

"I just think that the world is a tough place for a kid right now," Lars replies.

"Was it a tough place for you as a child?" Zoe asks further.

"I was bullied," Lars reveals. "I knew very early on that I was gay, as did the other kids. As did my father. He actually blamed my mother, her genetic tidepool. It was not in 'his DNA' to have a homosexual child, certainly not. And then, in the end, he left her. Though I suspect he was more fleeing me, his genetically flawed offspring."

Episode 5 on Nine Perfect Strangers starts streaming this Wednesday, September 1 on Hulu
