Say it ain't so!!

During an appearance on the Watch What Happens Live talk show with Andy Cohen on Wednesday night, the Emmy-winning actress and longtime Ryan Murphy muse was asked about what her next future project with the legendary TV producer & exec is, and her answer revealed something Sarah Stans probably aren't ready to hear right now: this season of American Horror Story, entitled Double Feature, might be the last one she does.
"I don't know," she told Cohen when he asked what she and Murphy are cooking up next. "It's the first time in about three years where I don't know. I think this is my last season of Horror Story, probably. I mean, I don't know."
She continued: "Every time he comes to me with some wackadoodle-stoodle character I tend to be like, 'Yes! Let's do it!' So, I don't know. This is the first time. So, we'll see."
While this isn't the first time Paulson has stepped away from the long-running and successful horror anthology series (she sat out during AHS: 1984, the season that aired in 2019), alongside Evan Peters, she has become the veritable face of the franchise, always delivering memorable performances as some of TV's wackiest, wildest, and larger-than-life characters. Her absence would definitely be felt, and online fans really let their thoughts out when she made the revelation...
Let's hope this isn't the last we see of Paulson in the AHS franchise, which we know won't be the same without her!
American Horror Story: Double Feature is currently airing new episodes Wednesday nights on FX and is streaming the following day on FX on Hulu. The first part of the season is titled Red Tide and takes place in Provincetown. The second part, titled Death Valley, takes place in a desert.
