He’s gay as a three dollar bill, and he’s getting a second season.

That’s right true crime lovers, Joe Exotic is coming back for even more mullets, maulings, and madness, as Netflix announced that Tiger King 2 will be coming out on the streaming network later this year as a part of a new slate of true-crime series and documentaries.

The Tiger King docuseries on Netflix was one of the first huge hits of the early days of the pandemic. With it’s big cats, bigger personalities, and bizarre twists and turns, it captured the attention of the entire nation.

Now, we’ll see if Netflix can catch lightning in a bottle twice, or if that bottle is too full of hair bleach to keep viewers coming back.

Since the original series ended, Exotic has been in prison, where he very publicly petitioned Donald Trump to pardon him while he was still president. The pardon never came.

However, this past July, Exotic’s prison term was shortened, as an appeals court ruled that his two counts of attempted murder should have been prosecuted as one, because they were both attempts to murder the same person, his rival Carole Baskin.

Some of the people featured in the first season of Tiger King have hit hard times since the show first aired. Jeff Lowe and his wife Lauren had a large number of big cats seized by federal authorities for allegedly violating the Endangered Species Act. Then, earlier this month, zookeeper Erik Cowie was found dead at a Brooklyn apartment.

However, there is some happiness. One of Exotic’s ex-husbands, Dillon Passage, has been posting on social media about his new boyfriend John, who he says “has been my rock and helping me get through it all.” After the clearly toxic relationship he had with Exotic, it’s good to see Passage in a happy and healthy relationship.

But this isn’t the last we’ll be seeing of Joe Exotic and company. Peacock is also currently filming a show about him titled Joe Exotic starring John Cameron Mitchell as the infamous zoo owner. The show will also star Kate McKinnon as Carole Baskin, William Fichtner as Rick Kirkham, Dean Winters as Jeff Lowe, Kyle MacLachlan as Howard Baskin, and Nat Wolff as Travis Maldonado.

Tiger King 2 will premiere on Netflix later this year.
