The 9-1-1: Lone Star actor shouted out his history-making co-star while attending the Outfest Legacy Awards!
TelevisionTVEntertainmentRaffy Ermac9-1-1: Lone Star actor Ronen Rubinstein is just as happy that his co-star Brian Michael Smith made history as one of People Magazine's Sexiest Men on Television as we are!
Attending Outfest's annual Legacy Awards Gala this past Saturday night at Los Angeles' Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, the 28-year-old bisexual actor (who plays TK Strand, one-half of beloved queer couple Tarlos, on the popular Fox show) walked the red carpet and opened up about how excited he is for the future of queer representation in mainstream media, what he hopes and dreams for 2022, and if there any up-and-coming actors or show's he's currently obsessed with.
He also gushed about how happy he is that Smith was recognized by People as one of television's most swoon-worthy heartthrobs, especially since it was the first time a trans man was included in their list!
"We sort of made history the other day!" Rubinstein, who was also named one of People's sexist TV hunks this year, told Out on the red carpet. "Brian Michael Smith was added to the Top 25 Sexiest Men on Television. I was there as well, but it's just really, really amazing that Brian is on that list. First trans man ever to be recognized for that honor. And it's because of shows like Lone Star that he gets that kind of recognition."
"I’ve been called many things, this is a first," Smith, who plays firefighter and paramedic Paul Strickland on Lone Star, said in an Instagram caption when he shared the news late last week that he was featured. "Incredibly honored to be included in this list with so many actors I admire. Big love to [People] for the historic shout-out."
Season 3 of 9-1-1: Lone Star is set to premiere on January 3, 2022. The first two seasons are currently streaming on Hulu!
