Colton Underwood’s new series, Coming Out Colton, is heading to Netflix next month.

The six-episode unscripted series will follow the former Bachelor star as he comes out as gay to friends and family while navigating his new reality.

Underwood posted the series’ cover photo on Instagram, writing:

“I’m looking forward to sharing more of my story with you including the lessons I’ve been learning along the way.”

Though many are excited that Underwood is speaking his truth, the reality star has faced various backlash as a result of his newfound platform. Despite being accused of stalking his ex-girlfriend and former Bachelor co-star Cassie Randolph in 2020, Underwood was given the opportunity to come out on Good Morning America, a privilege many people who aren't conventionally attractive, white, cisgender men and who are from underrepresented communities definitely would not receive.

In the interview with Robin Roberts, Underwood alluded to the controversy with his former girlfriend, but seemingly, did not take full responsibility.

"I would like to say sorry for how things ended," he said. "I messed up. I made a lot of bad choices."

Unsurprisingly, many viewers were left displeased, as he did not mention the stalking claims or restraining order that was filed against him. Soon after the interview aired, news broke that Underwood would be starring in a Netflix show about his coming out journey, and some questioned whether he was attempting to sweep the controversy under the rug.

In a Variety issue that was released in May 2021, Underwood insisted that was not the case.

He said: "I never want people to think that I'm coming out to change the narrative, or to brush over and not take responsibility for my actions, and now that I have this gay life that I don't have to address my past as a straight man. Controlling situations to try to grasp at any part of the straight fantasy that I was trying to live out was so wrong."

Viewers can catch the series on Netflix, as it premieres on December 3.
