We’re all mourning the loss of Willie Garson, and Mario Cantone took a few moments to share just how special the late actor was.

The And Just Like That actor recently opened up about the devastating passing of his dear friend and co-star in an interview with Gilbert Gottfried's Amazing Colossal Podcast on Sirius XM.

"It was a real shock," Cantone shared. "None of us knew, and it was just, it was terrible, very sad."

Despite his battle with pancreatic cancer, Garson was "so alive, brilliant, and hilarious," Cantone recalled. And as we’ve watched Garson over the past few decades, we can only imagine that to be true.

Garson took on the role of Stanford Blatch, the gay best friend and confidant of Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) in the original Sex and the City series on HBO, and it’s safe to say he never looked back, quickly becoming one of the most beloved characters of the franchise.

Cantone and Garson’s characters married in the sequel, despite starting off as (what some might call) an uncomfortable blind date during the fourth season. Charlotte (Kristin Davis) attempted to set the two up, and they were each significantly less than pleased. Later Anthony and Stanford fell in love, and we do get a glimpse of their marital dynamic in the premiere episodes of And Just Like That. Cantone shared that Garson was a "great TV husband," but off-screen, he was also, "an incredible father" to his son.

"That's all he talked about was Nathen," he told Gottfried. "He loved him very much."

Garson continues to be missed by many, including his co-stars Davis and Cynthia Nixon. The two chatted with Stephen Colbert earlier this month, revealing how much they missed their friend.

Cantone shared echoed the sentiment to Gottfried, saying, "He made me laugh so hard...He was everything. I miss him a lot."

You can watch Willie Garson in the first three episodes of And Just Like Thaton HBO Max.
