The broadcast journalist spilled some about a fellow out TV personality who is vying for the job.

The host of Anderson Cooper 360° and correspondent on the long-running 60 Minutes, Cooper was speaking with Stephen Colbert on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert when he named the unexpected potential candidate to replace Cuomo on his Cuomo Prime Time program.
“The first call after I got the news about Chris Cuomo was from Andy Cohen,” Cooper revealed. “He was like, ‘Do you think I could get that show?’”
Sadly, while Cohen can count on Cooper as a close friend in real life, it was apparent Cooper wasn’t as supportive in his potential career as a cable news host.
“Andy, you’ve got enough real estate [in television],” Cooper recalled of his response.
“It would be good, though,” countered Colbert.
Cuomo was let go from the network following allegations of sexual harassment and providing improper assistance to his brother, former governor of New York, Andrew Cuomo, who was dealing with sexual harassment allegations of his own.
While Cooper’s professional brush-off to Cohen might appear callous to outsiders, it is doubtful their friendship will suffer any long-term damage. Both men are successful, out TV personalities and proud fathers, and their young sons have become friends as well.
During an interview with Cooper and Kaley Cuoco of The Flight Attendant on an episode of Watch What Happens Live last December, Cohen felt comfortable enough to open up about his membership in an exclusive sex club.
“Have either of you ever joined the mile-high club?” Cohen asked, before revealing “I’m in it. Are you guys?"
“No” replied Cuoco.
“Are you?” asked a stunned Cooper.
“I am,” Cohen replied, later revealing it was on a flight to France, was not in a bathroom, and was not with a flight attendant.
Cooper did make amends somewhat later on The Late Show, though, when he noted why Cohen feels he should be considered a candidate for the open CNN job.
“He feels he is fully qualified to host a Presidential debate because he hosted the Housewives Reunion.
“I 100 percent agree,” Colbert then replied.
