Here's everything we know!
TVDisneyEntertainmentMey RudeJosh Gad and Luke Evans are about to return to a Little Town in France!
Gad, who played LeFou in the live-action 2017 Beauty and the Beast movie recently spilled some tea on when the new prequel series starring him and Evans as Gaston will start filming. And it’s sooner than we thought!
When he was being interviewed by ComicBook, Gad said that“we’re still planning on shooting this spring and the scripts are incredible, the music is unbelievable, all-new songs by Alan Menken, we’re casting now.”
This is all great news! So, with the show about to start filming, what do we know about it? Well, we know that the Disney+ series will be called Little Town, based on a lyric from the classic song “Belle” from the movie. And we know that it’s aiming to premiere on Disney+ sometime early next year.
We also know that the series will focus on the friendship between LeFou and Gaston, as well as LeFou’s step-sister Tilly, who will be played by Briana Middleton. The series is being created by Once Upon a Time’s Adam Horowitz and Eddy Kitsis, and will be directed by Respect director Liesl Tommy.
Gad has previously been asked if the series will explore LeFou’s sexuality, and his crush on Gaston, two things that he fought for to be included in the film. “You’re going to have to tune in when this show airs to see what we’re working up, but in the process of working on it, we’re asking ourselves every relevant question about these characters and endeavoring to do right by them and by this world,” he said on the Just for Variety podcast.
“I think we have origin stories that are unbelievably exciting because they’re unexpected,” he continued. “And I think ‘expect the unexpected’ is all I can really say. And not just with regard to LeFou and Gaston, but to a lot of the new characters that we’re introducing.”
