This cast keeps getting better and better!
Mey RudePeacock’s reboot of the iconic TV drama Queer As Folk has added another terrific name to it’s cast: Nyle DiMarco.
The show is a New Orleans-set reimagining of Russell T. Davies’ classic British show about a group of gay friends. According to a statement, DiMarco is joining as a guest star, and his character will be a “charming grad student.” Not much else is currently known about the role.
The show stars Jesse James Keitel, Johnny Sibilly, Fin Argus, Ryan O’Connell, Devin Way, and Candace Grace as a diverse friend group whose lives are transformed in the aftermath of a tragedy.
Other cast members who have been announced include Kim Cattrall, Armand Fields, Benito Skinner, Chris Renfro, Ed Begley, Jr., Eric Graise, Juliette Lewis, and Sachin Bhatt.
DiMarco first became famous when he was the first deaf contestant to win America’s Next Top Model and Dancing with the Stars. Since then, he’s packed in the projects, producing the Netflix short film Audible, and the award-winning Netflix docu-series Deaf U. Audible follows a deaf high school football player named Amaree McKenstry-Hall and was shortlisted for the Academy Awards.
He’s also reportedly developing a project with NBC titled Look at Me. This project is about a multi-generational deaf family, living under one roof. A hearing daughter-in-law and granddaughter move in, and drama ensues. The series is inspired by DiMarco’s own life.
DiMarco will also be starring in the upcoming drama series Deaf Punk!, inspired by San Francisco’s famed music venue The Deaf Club, which helped launch the punk scene in the 1970’s. DiMarco described the project as being one where “two disenfranchised communities join forces to make noise and propel change.”
