"I can't really think of a better time to tell y'all so here it goes."
RuPaul's Drag Racecoming outMikelle StreetRuPaul's Drag Race season 14 contestant Bosco has some news to announce.
Hailing from Seattle, on Thursday night Bosco, a drag performer competing on season 14 of Drag Race came out as trans to followers in a thread on Twitter.
"I can't really think of a better time to tell y'all so here it goes: I'm straight too," she wrote. The post — which was undoubtedly a play on the media circus and social media discourse around fellow competitor Maddy Morphosis's run as the first cisgender, heterosexual drag performer on the series— included trans pride flag emojis.
"I'm a very private person but it would feel silly to not talk about this while I have this platform," she tweeted. "After filming wrapped this summer, I began focusing on figuring out what medical transitioning would look like for me. I started HRT after getting back from Drag Race."
HRT refers to the hormones some trans folks take in order to increase estrogen levels in the body.
"This is something that's been on my mind for over a decade now," they continued. "I've spent my adult life working in the food industry and have never felt financially secure enough to start this process. Honestly, I was also just flat out terrified of how I'd be treated. I still am."
"I'm now in a place where I'm surrounded by love and support," she wrote. "Love from my heaven sent boyfriend, stunning peers, and incredible friends. I'm not quite where I want to be yet, but I'm starting to see her [peek] through more and more."
On season 14 of Drag Race, Bosco's trans peers include Kerri Colby and Kornbread.
"I'm trans, my pronouns out of drag are she/they," she wrote. "I'm the happiest I've ever been. Love, Bosco and her AAA sized titties."
Bosco joins a long line of trans contestants of Drag Racethat stretch back to season two with Sonique.
