The second season of popular teen drama series Euphoria was a wild one, both on-screen and behind the scenes, but exactly how wild was it?

That’s the question fans have been wondering all year as the new season of the HBO show went in new directions and put some favorite characters on the back burner. After rumors about long workdays, difficult filming environments, and punishment for actors that spoke out against showrunner Sam Levinson, the actors are finally telling us what actually went down.

“What’s interesting about this season is there are so many more eyes on it that even the news cycle has been so interesting to see,” out actor Barbie Ferreira said in a recent interview with Insider about reports that there were on-set conflicts and mistreatment from showrunner Sam Levinson. “I’ve seen so many different things and a lot of it is untrue and some of it’s kind of like mundane little things.”

“Sometimes things take on a life of their own, and they’re not rooted in the truth,” she continued. “But it’s okay, because I know it’s just out of passion and out of curiosity and all that good stuff. And I signed up for it. So, I’ll take it. I’ll take the good and the bad.”

There’s been a lot of talk about this season of the show being especially difficult for many of the young actors to film, with extra-long shooting hours, and Levinson changing things as they film them. A lot of the rumors have centered around Ferreira and her character Kat, who was relegated to the background for much of this season.

According to an earlier report from The Daily Beast, Ferreira was so fed up with changes made to her character that she clashed with Levinson on set, and even walked off after he continued to cut her scenes.

Another cast member, Jacob Elordi, who plays Nate Jacobs, also recently addressed the rumors, particularly about extra long days on set. “We’re making movies, you know what I mean? I mean that in the broad sense, like this is filmmaking,” he told Variety at the end of February. “And whilst you shouldn’t suffer, to me there’s great value in working hard.”

“And for every hour that I’ve personally put in on that set, I can see it when I watch the show, and I can feel it when I’m walking on the street and people love the show,” he continued. “That’s always been my dream, and if I’m not on a set, I don’t know what I’m doing. So for me, working long hours is like the greatest joy. And they just they take care of us. That’s my family. If I’m working long hours, Sam’s working twice as long, Zendaya’s working three times as long. We’re all in it together.”

No matter what happened, Euphoria will be back for a third season, as it was renewed before season two even ended.
