It’s the Glee reunion we all wanted!!

HBO Documentary Films is releasing a new retrospective of the classic Broadway musical Spring Awakening this May, and we are absolutely dying to see it!

15 years after the show had its first smash hit and Tony-winning run, the original cast and creative team for the musical have reunited for a special one-night-only reunion concert benefiting the Actors Fund.

Spring Awakening: Those You’ve Known, directed by Michael John Warren will debut Tuesday, May 3 at 9pm ET/PT on HBO and will stream on HBO Max.

The musical made waves across the country when it debuted on Broadway, depicting taboo issues like teen love, abortion, abuse, suicide, and sexual identity in a rock opera set in 1890s Germany.

Of course, stars Jonathan Groff and Lea Michele, who went on to also star in Glee together, will be there, along with other cast members including John Gallagher, Jr. (10 Cloverfield Lane), Skylar Astin (Pitch Perfect, Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist), and Krysta Rodriguez (Halston).

Other cast members like Lilli Cooper, Lauren Pritchard, Gideon Glick, Gerard Canonico, Jennifer Damiano, Christine Estabrook, Robert Hager, Brian C. Johnson, Stephen Spinella, Phoebe Strole, Jonathan B Wright, and Remy Zaken will also return for the special.

Original Broadway director Michael Mayer, lyricist and playwright Steven Sater, composer Duncan Sheik, and producers Tom Hulce and Ira Pittelman also appear, giving never-before insight into the journey of the hit musical from its humble beginnings to its eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical and launching the careers of some of this generation’s best talent.

Those You’ve Known is both a concert film, and features new footage and interviews with the cast and crew, archival video and photos, and performance footage from the original 2006 show.

Thankfully, we won’t have to wait too long to see this incredible special, as it debuts on HBO and HBO Max on May 3.
