For the first time in six years of American Horror Story, an episode will have a female director—none other than the fabulous Angela Bassett.
Wednesday's episode already has fans shaking with anticipation after Ryan Murphy spilled about the "radical twist" it'll have and now we'll all be watching to cheer on Bassett's AHS directorial debut.
This isn't the first time that Bassett has directed: She stepped behind the camera fairly recently for Lifetime's Whitney biopic.
"There was a moment where I realized, ‘The system is screwed up and I'm part of the system, so I'm part of the problem,'"Horror co-creator Ryan Murphy explains to E! News. "Only 17 percent of episodic television is directed by women, which is a deplorable number. And I want to help change it."
It's because of this that Murphy felt the need to create his foundation for diversity, Half. With this project he plans to fill 50 percent of all director slots on his shows with women, people of color, and members of the LGBT community
Sarah Paulson is also set to direct an episode of one of Murphy's shows in the near future.
