Out got the chance to speak with the cast of Peacock's modern-day reboot at the Los Angeles premiere.
Queer As Folk is officially back!
Created and directed by Stephen Dunn, produced by Russell T. Davies (creator of the original British series of the same name), and written by Jaclyn Moore (Love Life, Dear White People), Peacock's modern-day, diverse AF reboot follows a group of friends in New Orleans whose lives are transformed in the aftermath of a tragedy.
The first American version of Queer As Folk aired on Showtime for five seasons between 2000 and 2005, but now, a new generation of viewers is getting to experience all of the magic — and messiness — of Queer As Folk for themselves.
Out got the chance to interview the star-studded cast at the red-carpet premiere earlier this month in Los Angeles to talk about all things QAF, especially the importance of bringing such an iconic and beloved show back for new, fresh eyes.
"The best way I could describe it is like working with people who were just inspired," Devin Way, who plays one of the show's main characters, Brodie Beaumont, said when asked by Out about what it was like to be a part of a project like this. "I've never been in a place where the lighting, the hair the makeup, the wardrobe, the set design...every single aspect, the directors, the writers were all just...it felt like trying to show each other up in excellence. It really gave me an opportunity as an actor and a creator to show up in excellence as well, and be inspired."
Queer As Folk is now streaming on Peacock!
