The star of The Crown and My Policeman opened up about their identity.
Bernardo SimEmma Corrin is making history.
In 2021, Corrin quietly updated their pronouns on Instagram and showed off their binder in a beautiful photoshoot. They also came out as being queer on the sexuality spectrum.
On Wednesday, July 6, Corrin was announced as the cover star of the August 2022 edition of Vogue. During their interview with the publication, Corrin revealed that they’ve still gone on dates with men and women.
Corrin explained:
“My first date with a girl, they were like, 'Oh! You’re a baby queer!' It was amazing. We actually didn’t end up seeing each other again, but she really gave me the lowdown.”
They continued:
“I’m working out all this complex gender and sexuality stuff. And yet, I’m seeing a guy? That feels very juxtaposed, even if I’m very happy.”
This is undeniably a history-making moment for a publication like American Vogue to feature a non-binary celebrity on its cover. Corrin shared their Vogue cover on Instagram and wrote, “My grin really says it all! A huge honour to be your August cover.”
Best known for playing Diana, Princess of Wales on the Netflix series The Crown, Corrin has evolved from using she/them pronouns to just using they/them over time. And later this year, the actor is slated to appear in My Policeman– the film about Harry Styles being a closeted gay cop.
Between this Vogue feature and their upcoming work on the big screen, 2022 is shaping up to be a banner year for Corrin.
My Policeman comes out on Amazon Prime Video on November 4.
