Check out the first trailer for the long-awaited second season of the show!
Get ready for some Queer Latine Excellence!
Los Espookys, the hilarious and delightfully spooky HBO show, is coming back for a long-awaited second season and the new trailer just dropped!
The first season of Los Espookys followed a group of friends, Renaldo, Úrsula, Andrés, and Tati, who formed a Horror Group where they would make gore effects, horror makeup, and create supernatural happenings for anyone who would hire them.
It’s a truly brilliant show, one filled with creative ideas that no other shows are doing, hilarious jokes and stories, queer Latine characters and storylines, great horror concepts, and top-notch acting and writing. It was one of the best shows of 2019. Now it's coming back!
According to an official release, season two of the show “finds our charismatic Los Espookys leader and gore enthusiast, Renaldo (Bernardo Velasco), haunted by the ghost of a beauty pageant queen, while Úrsula (Cassandra Ciangherotti), enlists an old acquaintance to challenge the political status quo. Úrsula’s well-meaning sister, Tati (Ana Fabrega), is adjusting to her life as a newlywed, while balancing a new gig, and Renaldo’s ominous best friend, Andrés (Julio Torres), tries to find his place in the world after appeasing his inner demons (literally). Meanwhile, Uncle Tico (Fred Armisen) is searching for a new purpose after his valet career is derailed.”
We also know that several recurring and guest stars from the first season will be returning, including José Pablo Minor as Juan Carlos, Tati’s husband and Andrés’ former fiance, Carmen Gloria Bresky as Mayor Teresa Lobos, Greta Titelman as Ambassador Melanie Gibbons (and perhaps her reflection), and Spike Einbinder as Andrés’ demon Sombra Del Agua (Water’s Shadow).
We’ve also learned that the new season will have some absolutely huge new guest stars, including trans pop icon Kim Petras, acting legend Isabella Rosellini, and Oscar nominee Yalitza Aparicio (as the moon).
Kim Petras??? She appeared as herself in RuPaul’s The Bitch Who Stole Christmas and had a guest role in Grindr’s scripted Bridesman series, but other than that, she’s still fairly new to the acting world, so we can’t wait to see more of her acting talent in Los Espookys!
Watch the trailer below to get a look at some of the things happening this season!
The new season of Los Espookys debuts Friday, September 16 at 11pm ET/PT and will stream on HBO Max. The first season is currently streaming.
