With Warner Bros. and the DCEU floundering, they could turn to a new leader.

With the chaos over at Warner Bros. and the DCEU, the DC brand is considering making some big changes, including appointing a Kevin Feige-type figure to lead the company and its films. According to reports, gay Arrowverse creator Greg Berlanti could be just the man to do it.

Warner Bros. recently merged with Discovery, and along the way is reshuffling a lot of their DC-based projects. This includes shelving the already-filmed Batgirl HBO Max movie, and canceling upcoming shows like Kevin Smith’s Strange Adventures.

The DCEU is also running into issues with its upcoming big Flash movie, starring Ezra Miller, a star who has been courting controversy nonstop for the last year. Miller has been arrested multiple times, including for disorderly conduct, harassment, and assault. Their latest run-in with the law comes from a felony burglary charge in Vermont. But still, Warner Bros. plans on releasing their upcoming Flash film, even as calls for Miller to be replaced grow.

All of this, as well as underwhelming enthusiasm for projects like Wonder Woman 1984 and Justice League has Warner Bros. constantly considering shuffling or restarting their DCEU. Seeing the success that Feige, a longtime producer and Marvel Studios' current president, has led the MCU to, it makes sense that the DCEU would look for a Feige of its own.

Of course, Berlanti already comes with tons of experience running a multiverse of connected DC shows: The CW’s beloved Arrowverse.

Incredibly LGBTQ-inclusive, the Arrowverse featured the shows Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, Black Lightning, and Batwoman, and would constantly have crossovers of the various characters teaming up together.

Berlanti is also currently producing several DC shows for HBO Max, including current shows Titans and Doom Patrol, and the upcoming queer-inclusive Green Lantern TV show, as well as Dead Boy Detectives.

With experience doing multiverse crossovers and big DC events like Crisis on Infinite Earths, Elseworlds, and Crisis on Earth-X, Berlanti could be the perfect person to take over the DCEU films.

However, no one from Warner Bros. or Berlanti’s camp has actually commented on these rumors, and some insiders believe that Berlanti wouldn’t be interested. So it looks like, for now, the DCEU will remain in limbo.
