Mama Ru knows a thing or two about snatching trophies.
Even though she done already done had herses, Mama Ru just keeps on winning!
Over the weekend, RuPaul extended his record as the Black artist to win the most Emmy Awards in history. In total, Ru has won 12 Primetime Emmy Awards as host and producer of RuPaul’s Drag Race.
RuPaul was once again awarded the trophy for Outstanding Host for a Reality or Competition Program at the 2022 Emmy Awards. This seventh win has Ru in the lead with a very comfortable margin ahead of Jeff Probst’s four wins for hosting Survivor.
Outside of the reality TV hosting category, RuPaul is also the winningest Black artist in Emmy Awards history, a record that Ru previously broke in 2021 when the Drag Race host won his 11th Emmy. Now, Ru is extending his record even further.
Ru also won his first-ever Tony Award earlier this year for producing A Strange Loop on Broadway. At this juncture, RuPaul is only a Grammy and an Oscar away from EGOT-ing. While he has yet to be nominated in those award shows, he had also never been nominated for a Tony prior to snatching the trophy for A Strange Loop– so anything can happen!
There’s no denying that RuPaul and Drag Race are unstoppable at this point when it comes to being recognized by the Emmys. We love to see it!
RuPaul’s Secret Celebrity Drag Race season two is currently airing Fridays on VH1.
