Welcome to Guy Branum's world.
comedyEntertainmentMey RudeThe Guy Branum Era is just beginning.
The writer, actor, and comedian, who was recently seen as Bobby’s hilarious best friend in Bros, has sold two new comedy projects, one to NBC, and one to ABC.
We’ve been huge fans of Branum for years, and now, it seems he’s finally getting the spotlight and opportunities he deserves.
Le Coq, written by Branum, follows “the jaded proprietor of a run-down Midwestern gay watering hole and his troubled, combative and charming crew of employees.” NBC has picked it up for development, from Todd Milliner and Sean Hayes’ Hazy Mills Productions and Universal TV. Branum will also executive produce.
The other project is titled Outer Calistoga and is also written by Branum, and will be produced by Aline Brosh McKenna’s Lean Machine for ABC.
Outer Calistoga is about “how the renovation of a country house in fancy Calistoga brings together three families who all — for wildly different reasons — live one town over. The families have little in common in terms of outlook, values or taste in coffee drinks, but find themselves coming together to search for a better life, despite never agreeing about what that means.”
Branum created Talk Show The Game Show, which aired for two seasons on TruTV. He more recently is a writer and co-executive producer on the Emmy-winning HBO Max series Hacks, and appeared in Billy Eichner’s Bros.
Next, he’s appearing in a supporting role in Seth Rogan and Rose Byrne’s comedy Platonic, and is serving as a writer, co-executive producer, and cast member for Mel Brooks’ new variety series History of the World, Part II.
Congratulations to Guy, we can’t wait to see the great projects that come from him!
