Everyone's favorite conservative voice on The View, Candace Cameron-Bure, is officially leaving the show.
“It wasn’t an easy decision,” Bure told the co-hosts and audience during Thursday morning's show. “Before I started The View, I already had my commitments to Fuller House and the Hallmark Channel. Because of the success of those, my commitments have become even greater with those shows...I want to make sure I’m able to spend enough time with my children. I thank everybody...for welcoming me to this table. I’ve learned so much from you and I’m so grateful for you.”
Cameron-Bure became well-known for her controversial conservative opinions during the show's Hot Topics discussions, particularly when it came to LGBTQ rights.
Last year, the former child star got into a particularly heated argument with co-host Raven Symone, who called Cameron-Bure out for her problematic defense of anti-gay bakeries.
"The Oregon law bars businesses from discriminating against sexual orientation, race, disability, age or religion,” Symone said. “And to me, it’s the same exact thing that they did back in the day saying that black people couldn’t do certain things because it’s my ’religious belief.'”
“I think you are comparing apples to oranges here. I don’t think this is discrimination at all,” Cameron-Bure responded. “This is about freedom of association, it’s about constitutional rights, it’s about First Amendment rights. We do still have the right to choose who we associate with—but they did not refuse to bake cakes.”
Later, Cameron-Bure told E! Onlinethat her gay friends still supported her: "My favorite part were all the texts that I got from my … very close gay friends that were saying, 'We love you and we can all have different opinions and you fight for what you believe in.' And I’m going to fight for what I believe in."
