Award-winning comedian Jerrod Carmichael will host the 80th Annual Golden Globe Awards in 2023.

Each year, the Golden Globes serve as an official kickoff to the award season for film and television. In 2023, the ceremony will be broadcast to the world on Tuesday, January 10 at 8pm ET / 5pm PT from Los Angeles.

“We’re so excited to have Jerrod Carmichael host the historic 80th Golden Globe Awards,” the president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), Helen Hoehne, said in a release. “His comedic talents have entertained and thrilled audiences while providing thought-provoking moments that are so important in the times we live. Jerrod is the special kind of talent this show calls for to kick off the awards season.”

The 2023 Golden Globes telecast will air simultaneously on NBC and Peacock.

In recent years, Carmichael has made a huge splash in Hollywood with his comedy special Jerrod Carmichael: Rothaniel, film On the Count of Three, and sitcom The Carmichael Show. He’s also served as an executive producer on the critically-acclaimed series Ramy.

The comedian also made headlines for coming out as gay during the Rothaniel special, making him one of the honorees and cover stars of the 2022 Out100.

Carmichael will likely be a fantastic host at the Golden Globes, and we can’t wait to see it!

The 80th Annual Golden Globe Awards will air January 10, 2023 on NBC and Peacock.
