Ellen DeGeneres is opening up following the news of the tragic passing of her friend, longtime co-host, and DJ Stephen "tWitch" Boss.

"I’m heartbroken," she wrote in an emotional Instagram post on Wednesday, which showcased a picture of the two embracing while on the set of her beloved and popular daytime talk show, which wrapped production earlier this year after years on the air. "tWitch was pure love and light. He was my family, and I loved him with all my heart."

She continued:

"I will miss him. Please send your love and support to Allison and his beautiful children — Weslie, Maddox, and Zaia."

This isn't the first time DeGeneres has been open about her friendship and love for Boss. During the final week of DeGeneres' talk show, the out TV legend paid tribute to him and all of his years of hard work on the series.

TMZ broke the news earlier today of Boss' passing. His wife, Allison Holker, sought help from Los Angeles law enforcement officials on Tuesday after Boss left their house without his car. Boss' body was later found at an undisclosed hotel in the LA area.

Boss is survived by his wife and their 3 children.
