Because reading is what? Fundamental!
Mama Ru is known for regularly referencing the legendary documentary Paris Is Burning on her hit reality series RuPaul's Drag Race. The concept of "reading" within the LGBTQ+ community was captured and explained in the documentary, prompting Ru to always reference Paris Is Burning when introducing the Reading Challenge on Drag Race.
Over the years, the Reading Challenge has become a recurring segment in each season. It is by far the most iconic mini challenge on Drag Race, with some contestants even regarding it as being as important and memorable as winning a maxi challenge. As such, it is a lot of fun to look back and see which queens won the Reading Challenge in their respective seasons.
For the sake of this list, it should be noted that the queens of season 12 did film a Reading Challenge that was cut from the final edit. Thus, the Reading Challenge of season 12 was not included in this list given that it was never aired.
Scroll through to check out the Reading Challenge winners of RuPaul's Drag Race, and make sure to watch new episodes of season 15 every Friday on MTV.
