With the new announcement of the upcoming slate of DCU movies and series from James Gunn and Peter Safran comes a whole new round of speculative casting. While Gunn and Safran have said that some actors from the current movies might stay, most of the projects will have all new actors playing our favorite heroes and villains.

With new Superman, Batman, Amazon, Swamp Thing, Green Lantern, Booster Gold, Authority, and Supergirl projects coming our way, here are ten queer actors we’d love to see join the new DCU.

Jonathan Bailey as Clark Kent/Superman

Jonathan Bailey

Gunn has said he wants to focus on a younger Superman, and this dreamy Bridgerton actor might be the perfect choice. He’s definitely got the look of a superhero, and he’d look absolutely cute in Clark Kent glasses.

Lee Pace as Bruce Wayne/Batman

Lee Pace

What about Lee Pace as an older, wiser Batman whose world is turned upside down when his pre-teen assassin son shows up? He’s handsome enough to pull off playboy Bruce Wayne and talented enough to play a bitter Batman learning to be a father.

Michaela Jaé Rodriguez as Selina Kyle/Catwoman

Michaela Jae Rodriguez

While Batman is off getting to know his new son (and stopping him from murdering criminals with a sword), Catwoman could take advantage and have free rein of Gotham City. We’d love to see Rodriguez in both the gowns of Selina Kyle and the catsuit of Catwoman.

Jeremy Pope as John Stewart/Green Lantern

Jeremy Pope

The new Lanterns series is set to focus mainly on two heroes – John Stewart and Hal Jordan. John Stewart is a former marine turned superhero, so we’d love to see Jeremy Pope, who recently played a marine in The Inspection take a go at the classic hero.

Hari Nef as an Amazon

Hari Nef

For the Wonder Woman prequel series Paradise Lost, the DCU will have to cast plenty of Amazons. Why not start with the talented, beautiful, and 5’10” Hari Nef? Honestly, they could populate the entire island of Amazons with trans actresses!

Luke Evans as Midnighter

Luke Evans

When it comes to The Authority, two gay heroes stand out: Midnighter and Apollo. Midnighter is a much more violent, gay version of Batman, and action star Luke Evans would make the perfect casting choice for this antihero.

Matt Bomer as Andrew Pulaski/Apollo

Matt Bomer

Opposite of Midnighter in The Authority is his partner in life and super heroics, Apollo. Apollo is basically an out, gay Superman, and Matt Bomer is the perfect casting for that.

Hunter Schafer as Kara Zor-El/Supergirl

Hunter Schafer

Sasha Calle is playing Supergirl in the upcoming The Flash, but we don’t know if she’ll be sticking around after that. We’d love to see Euphoria’s Hunter Schafer take her shot at playing Supergirl.

Murray Bartlett as Anton Arcane

Murray Bartlett

Every hero needs a great villain, and Swamp Thing has got Anton Arcane. This depraved scientist/sorcerer is obsessed with gaining immortality. We’d love to see Bartlett transform into this truly evil villain.

John Early as Booster Gold

John Early

Booster Gold is more of a comedic superhero. He’s a time traveler from the future who traveled to the 21st century so he could become a famous superhero. John Early would be perfect in the role to add some humor to the DCU.
