"It's Vogue, let's lift it."

Violet Chachki has made her name as one of the most iconic fashion queens in RuPaul's Drag Race history. From her jaw-dropping reveal in the two-look seasonal runway mini challenge to her sickening almost-not-there corset on the Main Stage, it's always been true that for Chachki, aesthetics are serious business — her step-down look arguably stamped a benchmark of glamour for queens following in her wake. Now, with the history-making move as the first RuPaul's Drag Race alum to get a dedicated cover of an edition of Vogue, she's certainly immortalized her status.

Released digitally today, Chachki covers Vogue Czechoslovakia's March 2023 issue. The theme: identity.

The issue is a big deal as it marks the 50th edition of the magazine, which was first launched back in 2018. In the interview (according to a translation), Chachki says that appearing on the cover of Vogue was on the list of things she wanted to achieve, and now, she must come up with a new list of goals.

Chachki's inclusion comes after years of her own work sitting front row at shows, walking in them (like wearing all latex at Richard Quinn), and developing relationships with designers. In doing so, as well as touring her burlesque-filled style of performance, she's built up an audience of over 2 million followers on Instagram. But it also comes alongside the accolades of her peers.

Chachki's close friend, collaborator, and fellow Drag Race alum Gottmik also recently appeared on a cover of British Vogue, notably tapped as one of the "Big Four" Vogue editions. Gottmik's moment was part of a fold-out cover of LGBTQ+ stars. In addition, non-Drag Race drag talent like Pabllo Vittar and Gloria Groove have covered Vogue Brazil.

Queens get much more attention inside of Vogue. (RuPaul notably has appeared in but never on American Vogue.) Bimini Bon Boulash has appeared in side issues of British Vogue and Vogue Italia. Aquaria had a Vogue Italia moment, as well, while Valentina appeared in Vogue Mexico. Notably, though, Miss Fame has appeared in Vogue the most, having done work with at least seven editions, including the coveted American Vogue.
