A new detail about the upcoming third season of creator Mike White’s hit show The White Lotus may have just been revealed in an interview with one of White’s friends.
Actor and Jackass star Johnny Knoxville was being interviewed by Devon Ivie of Vulture about the cancelation of his sitcom Reboot.
Reboot, which also starred Rachel Bloom, Judy Greer, Paul Reiser, and Keegan-Michael Key was getting good reviews and building a strong fanbase, but was unceremoniously canceled after just its first season.
In the interview, Knoxville was asked if he wanted to lean more into TV acting after his experience on Reboot. Knoxville said that while he’s focusing on film right now, he wouldn’t turn down the right TV role.
When Ivie asked Knoxville if he’d say yes if he was cast in the next season of the immensely popular HBO show The White Lotus, he had something very interesting to say.
“Are you kidding? Mike White is a very close friend of mine,” Knoxville said. “He and I had been in Tokyo together. I think that’s where the next … oh, I’m not giving anything away. I might call him again as soon as this is over.”
Did Knoxville just insinuate that the next season of The White Lotus will take place in Tokyo or Japan?
The first two seasons have traveled to Hawaii and Italy, and we’ve been eagerly anticipating finding out what the next gorgeous location we’ll be going to is.
Previously, White told TV Line that the third season will take “a kind of satirical and funny look at death and Eastern religion and spirituality. It feels like it could be a rich tapestry to do another round at White Lotus.”
That quote fits in nicely with Knoxville’s hint about Tokyo, so it looks like The White Lotus may be heading to Japan.
