Let me be honest: I love high glam drag. I do.
Maybe it comes from a lifelong love of the high fashion industry, or maybe it's just because I'm gay, but that's long been the case. And over the years RuPaul has proven herself to be one of the best at it. So being who I am, I take great interest in the team behind the looks. For as long as I can remember that's been Zaldy when it comes to the clothes. For the past six years or so that's also been Raven for the makeup. But with hair, there's been a recent change.
Midway through RuPaul's Drag Race U.K. series 4, I personally started to feel something different with RuPaul's hair. At the time Curtis William Foreman had been styling her wigs for a few years. But though he wasn't posting photos of her looks onto Instagram as he usually did (instead he was posting photos from his soon-to-be award-winning Hocus Pocus 2 gig) his name still appeared on IMDb as the stylist for RuPaul's wigs. But RuPaul's Drag Race season 15 brought with it a new credit: Moira Frazier.
Who Is Moira Frazier?
Though Moira Frazier's name may be new to some of the Drag Race fandom, she's certainly not new to the industry. Frazier, who also goes by Fingaz on Instagram and elsewhere, is an award-winning hair stylist and the creator of her own Fingaz Beauty Academy which features online training. And believe it or not, you've probably seen her work before.
Before becoming the head hairstylist for Drag Race — the title comes with the job of doing RuPaul's wigs personally — she was the department head for shows like Abbott Elementary, Claim to Fame, and 12 Dates of Christmas. In addition, she's nurtured quite the relationship with Nicole Byer, doing her hair since as far back as 2018. Before she made it big as a celebrity hairstylist (she's also done some notable work for Sheryl Lee Ralph), she made a name for herself competing in hair shows starting in 2006. In 2010, she even competed on the show Hair Battle Spectacular and came in third place.
