Two heartthrobs from Netflix’s Élite are reuniting, and queer fans are having a field day!

Manu Ríos and Arón Piper went from playing gay lovers on Élite to now playing deadly enemies on a new Netflix series called Muted.

Originally titled El Silencio, this new Spanish-language series centers around the character of Sergio (played by Piper), who has remained completely silent since killing his parents. After being released from prison six years later, Sergio is placed under a surveillance program where a psychiatrist tries to figure out what is behind this person’s complete commitment to silence.

Ríos plays the character of Eneko. The Muted cast also features Almudena Amor as Ana, Cristina Kovani as Marta, and Aitor Luna as Cabrera.

Piper’s Élite character, Ander, was introduced in the very first season of Élite, and the character quickly recognized himself as queer. In turn, Ríos was introduced in season four as Patrick and entered a throuple relationship with fan-favorite gay couple Ander and Omar (played by Omar Ayuso).

In order to pursue other projects, Piper left Élite after filming season four. Meanwhile, Ríos stayed on Élite between seasons four and six, but also left to work on other creative endeavors. In fact, Ríos is attached to Pedro Almodóvar’s upcoming gay Western film, Strange Way of Life, starring Pedro Pascal and Ethan Hawke.

Needless to say, we are excited to watch Piper and Ríos back together on our screens!

Muted premieres Friday, May 19 on Netflix.
