“A new hero takes shape,” Netflix says in the all-new teaser for this summer's highly-anticipated animated epic Nimona.
It gives us a perfect look at Nimona, the fun-loving, rebellious, always proud to be herself shapeshifter who delights in chaos and destruction. In the minute-long teaser, we get to see her shapeshift into a whale, a gorilla, an armadillo, a rhino, a horse, and, according to her drawings, a bird, a dragon, and a shark!
It also gives us the best look yet at the animation in this movie, which looks STUNNING! This techno-magical world and shapeshifting have been brought to life in such a vibrant and exciting way!
Nimona is described as “an epic tale about finding friendship in the most surprising situations and accepting yourself and others for who they are.”

“When Ballister Boldheart (Riz Ahmed), a knight in a futuristic medieval world, is framed for a crime he didn't commit, the only one who can help him prove his innocence is Nimona (Chloë Grace Moretz), a mischievous teen with a taste for mayhem — who also happens to be a shapeshifting creature Ballister has been trained to destroy,” the official description reads. “But with the entire kingdom out to get him, Nimona’s the best (or technically the only) sidekick Ballister can hope for. And as the lines between heroes, villains, and monsters start to blur, the two of them set out to wreak serious havoc — for Ballister to clear his name once and for all, and for Nimona to…just wreak serious havoc.”
Nimona is based on the Nation Book Award finalist and best-selling graphic novel of the same name by ND Stevenson (She-Ra and The Princesses of Power), and is directed by Nick Bruno and Troy Quane. It also stars Frances Conroy, Lorraine Toussaint, Beck Bennett, Indya Moore, RuPaul Charles, Julio Torres, and Sarah Sherman.
Nimona knocks down our doors and arrives on Netflix June 30.
