During a recent visit to The Ellen Show, McCarthy said that Saturday Night Live head writer Kent Sublette called her out of the blue when she was shooting for another project in New York asking her to originate her now-iconic role. “I feel like my dad and Sean Spicer had a baby and it’s me,” McCarthy told DeGeneres, “which makes it even weirder.”
McCarthy will hold the second to last episode of SNL’s current season on May 13. Watch her appearance on Ellen, below.
