Developed by Michael Patrick King, Max’s And Just Like That has given continuity to the universe built by HBO’s Sex and the City over the course of six seasons and two movies. Well, for at least three of the original four leading women in the series, that is.
Sarah Jessica Parker (Carrie Bradshaw), Cynthia Nixon (Miranda Hobbes), and Kristin Davis (Charlotte York Goldenblatt) all signed up to reprise their roles on And Just Like That, but Kim Cattrall famously denied the invitation to return as Samantha Jones. While this news came as a huge disappointment, it was expected by Sex and the City fans who had been following the mediatic feud between Parker and Cattrall over their time working together on the hit HBO series.
And yet, Cattrall did accept an invitation to make a cameo in the season two finale of And Just Like That. Though this was only a quick scene between Carrie and Samantha talking on the phone, it still had long-time fans of Sex and the City shaking in their boots over the highly-anticipated – albeit temporary – return of Samantha Jones to the franchise.
