Farrah Moan has now officially come out as a trans woman.

Best known for competing in season nine of RuPaul’s Drag Race and returning for All Stars 4, Farrah has gone through a lot of hardships before her reality TV debut, in between Drag Race seasons, and after appearing on the show, too. In an interview for Give It to Me Straight with Maddy Morphosis, Farrah also said that she is now living her life as a trans woman.

Farrah said during the interview:

“In 2019, unbeknownst to my following, that’s when I made the decision to live my life as a woman. It was [coming] forever. The times in my life where I tried to suppress my trans identity, it was because I felt if I ever did it, I would never be on Drag Race, I’d never be successful, I’d never be able to have a job. Back in the day, the trans people that were brave enough to be open and out were very ostracized from society, in my perception.”

“I think what my breaking point was, where I couldn’t take it anymore, was having a male persona [that] felt more like drag than having to do drag,” Farrah continued. “That was when I couldn’t do it anymore. (…) Trying to figure out how to be a cute boy was so much harder for me and came so much more unnaturally, to the point where I was like, ‘I wish I could just go out in drag right now.’ The thought of dressing like a boy was so stressful to me. It stressed me out so much. I resented every masculine feature my whole life.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Farrah talked about her infamous Variety Show number from All Stars 4 – where she fell while performing – and noted that it had been choreographed by eventual season 15 winner Sasha Colby. She suggested that production gave more time and attention to other queens and their Variety Show performances, and that her props were set up in a different way than she had rehearsed.

The rest of the interview featured other stories about Farrah being put in dangerous situations, being homeless prior to filming season nine, getting robbed right after moving to Las Vegas, and being a “scene kid” back in the MySpace days whose photo was regularly used to catfish people.

As usual, Maddy delivered a deep but also very entertaining Give It to Me Straight interview, and we’re very happy to hear that Farrah is living as her most authentic self!
