Gays have always loved a gossip queen.

In FX’s upcoming Feud: Capote vs. The Swans, we get to see one of America’s first messy bitches, writer Truman Capote, as he betrayed his close relationships with several women in New York’s high society in order to become one of the most polarizing figures of his day.

In the trailer we meet the gorgeous, fabulous, and cold-blooded women of 1970’s New York City high society. Naomi Watts plays Babe Paley, the wife of CBS founder William S. Paley, Chloe Sevigny is socialite and fashion icon C.Z. Guest, Diane Lane is Slim Keith, Calista Flockhart is Jackie Kennedy’s younger sister Lee Radziwill, and Molly Ringwald is Joanne Carson, Johnny Carson’s second wife.

Capote befriended these women who at the time were collectively known as his “swans.” Then, when the first chapters of Capote’s novel Answered Prayers, a thinly-veiled account of his days with the socialites, were released, it all came crashing down.

Once the “swans” read his accounts of their dirty laundry published for all to see, they started abandoning Capote and seeking revenge.

Capote will be played in Feud by British actor Tom Hollander. This will be Hollander’s second major gay role in two years, as last year, he joined the cast of The White Lotus as Quentin, a wealthy gay man who befriends Tanya, has sex with his own “nephew,” and is revealed to be the leader of the gays that are trying to kill her.

He was absolutely delightful in that role of a gay villain, and it seems like he’s going to eat up the role of a chaotic gay troublemaker just as much.

Feud: Capote Vs. The Swans premieres January 31 on FX and will be streaming on Hulu the next day. Watch the trailer below.
