Though Sense8 fans get an A for effort, their online petitioning and campaigning wasn’t enough to keep the commendably inclusive show alive.
“To our Sense8 family,” begins a letter on the show’s Facebook page. “We’ve seen the petitions. We’ve read the messages. We know you want to #RenewSense8, and we wish we could #BringBackSense8 for you. The reason we’ve taken so long to get back to you is because we’ve thought long and hard here at Netflix to try to make it work but unfortunately we can’t. Thank you for watching and hope you’ll stay close with your cluster around the world. #SensatesForever.”

The show, another ingenious brainchild of Lana and Lily Wachowski, was cancelled after its long-awaited second season was released. Following the announcement, online petitions to save the show sprung up online, garner hundreds of thousands of signatures from fans, saying the show, heralded for its diverse and inclusive cast, was more than a show to them. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like a dedicated fan base was enough to save the show.
