The 2024 Grammys belonged to queer women! Miley Cyrus, Billie Eilish, Victoria Monét, and boygenius all won multiple Grammys, with queer women also dominating the Americana and Roots categories.
Out of the major categories, Best New Artist, Song, Record, and Album of the Year, queer women won three of them.
Boygenius
Boygenius has won three Grammys tonight, for Alternative Music Album for The Record, and Best Rock Song and Best Rock Performance for “Not Strong Enough.”
Phoebe Bridgers also won a Grammy for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for “Ghost in the Machine with SZA.
Miley Cyrus
17 years after she started in the music industry, Cyrus won her first Grammy for Best Pop Solo Performance for the song “Flowers.” Then, later in the night, "Flowers" and Cyrus also won Record of the Year.
Billie Eilish
Eilish’s first Grammy of the night was for Best Song Written for Visual Media for “What Was I Made For?” from Barbie: The Album. She also won Song of the Year for the same song.
Victoria Monét
Monét won the Grammys for Best New Artist and Best R&B Album for Jaguar II. She also won for Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical.
Brandy Clark featuring Brandi Carlile
These two giants of Americana music won the Grammy for Best Americana Performance.
Allison Russell
Russell took home a Grammy for Best American Roots Performance for her song “Eve Was Black.”
