These kisses stuck with us forever!
Seeing a lesbian kiss on TV or in a movie can change your life. For people who grow up without real-life gay role models, TV and movie romances might be the first time you see two women kissing, and that can open up a whole new world to you.
These kisses are some of the best examples of that. These kisses not only pushed queer representation forward, but have been the spark of a new awakening for many a girl. With that in mind, here are some of our favorite lesbian and sapphic kissing scenes that we’ll never get tired of watching!
1. Greta and Carson, "A League of Their Own"
Not only sets the tone of the queerness of the show, but also lets us know exactly who Greta is: a total lesbian dreamboat. Greta guides Carson to a back room where they’re all alone so that she can kiss her, and when she does, it changes Carson’s life. As soon as Carson passionately kisses back, Greta smiles and says “I thought so.”
2. Ronit and Esti, "Disobedience"
These two former childhood friends who come from a traditional Jewish community are desperate for each other, and their kisses certainly show it. Rachel Weisz and Rachel McAdams give it their all in some of the sexiest kissing in a movie ever. This is the movie that introduced spitting in your partner’s mouth to wider America!
3. Brittany and Santana, "Glee"
We’d been waiting so long for these two to kiss! While the two started talking about having sex back in season one of the show, they didn’t get to kiss on the lips until season 3, episode 13 when they finally got to kiss in time for Valentine’s Day!
4. Adora and Catra, "She-Ra and the Princesses of Power"
This kiss changed cartoons forever. The main characters of the show (one of whom is the title character and an important legacy character from the ’80s) kiss and their kiss saves the entire universe. The entire show had been building to this kiss, and you can’t have She-ra without Catra and Adora’s kiss here. “Don't you get it? I love you and I always have, so just this once, stay,” Catra asks. And Adora does.
5. Corky and Violet, "Bound"
This erotic thriller directed by the Wachowskis is hot from start to finish, but in this scene, Violet, a woman kept by a member of the mob, follows Corky, the butch from next door, out to her car after they were almost caught having sex. While the sound of both of their leather creaks, the two passionately and desperately make out in Violet’s truck.
6. Bette and Tina, "The L Word"
Bette and Tina are the most iconic couple in The L Word, and possibly in all of lesbian TV, and this is where it all started. Tina had left her earring at Bette’s art gallery, and went back to get it, and the rest is L Word history!
7. Jennifer and Needy, "Jennifer's Body"
We love Jennifer’s Body! After Jennifer has been possessed by an evil entity, she shows up at her best friend Needy’s house in her bed. “We always share your bed when we have slumber parties,” she tells a worried and confused Needy. “I’m not gonna bite you.” Soon the two are making out like it's nobody’s business.
8. Megan and Graham, "But I'm a Cheerleader"
Megan and Graham are two girls at a gay conversion camp, and Megan’s never been with a woman before. But one night when they sneak away to a gay bar, tensions rise until the two start fighting, and until the fighting starts turning into kissing.
9. Yorkie and Kelly, "Black Mirror: San Junipero"
Yorkie and Kelly are two women who meet in a bar in this sci-fi story who sense an immediate connection. Yorkie follows Kelly into the bathroom where she tells her, “I don’t know how to do this… just help me, can you just make this easy for me,” asking Kelly to take control. After a short drive, the two go back to her house where they finally share a satisfying first kiss.
10. Emily and Sue, "Dickinson"
Dickinson didn’t pull any punches, and right off the bat in episode one we got an epic kiss between Emily and Sue. After Sue’s sister dies, Emily says, “Well, I guess since you’re marrying Austin, I’ll be your sister now. Promise me something Sue. Okay, promise me two things. One: That you won’t move away to Michigan, and two: that you’ll always love me more than him.” Sue shows her answer as rain starts pouring down all around them.
