Showtime’s hit lesbian drama, The L Word, will likely return for another season. According to Entertainment Weekly, the show’s co-creator Ilene Chaiken will play executive producer, alongside Jennifer Beals, Katherin Moenig, and Leisha Hailey, who are speculated to star in the upcoming season.

Characters from seasons past will make an appearance, with new a whole new cast to be introduced, as well. Chaiken is also bringing on a new writer to the show that has authentic “ties to the lesbian community.” An official airdate has yet to be released.

"We talk about it all the time," Chaiken previously told EW about the possibility of a revival. "When we went off the air in 2009, I think a lot of people thought, Okay, the baton is passed now, and there will be lots of shows that portray lesbian life. There’s really nothing. It feels like maybe it should come back."

Should a sequel to The L Word be created, it'd come at a time when lesbian and bisexual characters have been wrongly marginalized with a record 62 characters killed in the past two seasons.  "Most of these deaths served no other purpose than to further the narrative of a more central (and often straight, cisgender) character," said GLAAD President and CEO Sarah Kate Ellis. "When there are so few lesbian and bisexual women on television, the decision to kill these characters in droves sends a toxic message about the worth of queer female stories."
