Go tuck yourself!

Episode 13 of the currently ongoing 16th season of RuPaul’s Drag Race sparked a new debate between Nymphia Wind and Morphine Love Dion about the best method of tucking… and we all have several follow-up questions, let’s just say that!

It all started with Nymphia teaching her makeover partner, Jonathan Claudio, how to tuck properly to get in drag. But after seeing what Nymphia was doing across the werk room, Morphine joined in with her makeover partner, Miguel Rivera Laureano. Morphine looked truly confused by Nymphia’s method, so she shared her own way of tucking.

To settle this debate, we reached out to a specialist, authority, and scholar in the art form of tucking — the supreme tucking expert herself, Trinity The Tuck. In response, the All Stars 4 winner tells Out what she thinks about Nymphia and Morphine’s methods while providing some additional insight.

“Watching this latest episode and seeing two different styles of tucking was definitely educational to the audience, I’m sure,” Trinity tells Out. “Both hilarious, especially watching the RuPaul’s Drag Race Live! dancers’ facial expressions as they were being taught what to do. Nymphia’s way of tucking seems to be the more traditional way. Though Morphine’s was definitely interesting.”

The All Stars 7 legend adds, “The way that I tuck is somewhere between the two of them. I think that, depending on if you wear pads or if you care if you have a bulge or not, play into your style of tucking. And from experience with queens asking advice, I think the size of your Easter eggs play a part in the tucking style too. As long as you are happy with the results and it doesn’t hurt you, I say go for it.”

When asked if Nymphia’s or Morphine’s styles of tucking have specific names, Trinity replies:

“I am not sure if these different styles have names. I’ve never heard them be called anything other than tucking. But for the sake of these questions and these queens, why don’t we give them a name?! I would definitely name Nymphia’s version ‘The Banana Split’ and Morphine’s version ‘The BBL (Big Ball Lasso).’”

Given that the Drag Race Live! dancers had never tucked before and were getting in drag for the first time, we asked Trinity what she considers to be the easiest tucking method for a baby drag queen.

“The easiest way to secure a tuck for beginners would be to just get a tucking panty and push everything back,” Trinity explains. “If you wear pads and tights, that also adds more stability and compression to make things look more flat.”

She continues, “For those who are looking for The Perfect Tuck, I do suggest going on my YouTube and watching my tutorial. I can’t tell you how many queens send me messages or tell me in person how thankful they are for this and how this is the way they learned to tuck. Good luck to all you motherf*ckers!”
