James Ross, otherwise known by the stage name King Tyra (and formerly known as RuPaul’s Drag Race season 2 winner Tyra Sanchez), shared a series of Instagram stories talking about Beyoncé’s new “Texas Hold ‘Em (Pony Up Remix)” release.
For the record, Ross is a massive Beyoncé fan who’s shared several positive reviews and reactions to Cowboy Carter. He also revealed that he owns “every Beyoncé album on vinyl” and talked about how his family gifted him different vinyl copies of Queen Bey’s latest album.
On Thursday, Apr. 4, Ross posted Instagram stories comparing the official “Texas Hold ‘Em (Pony Up Remix)” to a remix that he produced and released for the song. The post read:
“I’m side eyeing this remix @Beyonce. The transition sounds awfully a lot like my remix. Gimmie my credit, I got a son and tuition to pay for too. That ain’t me calling and hanging up. You know I love yo momma.”
He then shared a still from his “Texas Hold ‘Em (Texas Bama Remix)” and wrote: “Produced by James Ross.”
Ross’ final Instagram story also referenced what he perceived to be similarities between the two remixes. Moreover, he opened up about the frustrating creative process he’s experiencing from working on his own upcoming album.
“Been up all night working on my own album,” Ross wrote. “It’s taking so long because I get frustrated at myself and I have no creative feedback from anyone. It’s just me. Many times I doubt myself and my work and the songs I produce. Whether she used my remix idea or not, that was the confirmation I needed to know that I’m doing something right. Great minds think alike. Album dropping soon.”
