Get ready to head back to post-apocalypic America!
HBO is giving us a first tease of the upcoming second season of its hit drama series The Last of Us. The network released two new images to celebrate, one of Joel (Pedro Pascal) and one of Ellie (Bella Ramsey).
The image of Joel shows him talking to someone who has their back to the camera. (Could this be his brother Tommy??)
Ellie's image is a bit more action focused. She's seen wearing a winter coat, hat, and gloves, and carrying a shotgun, ready to fire it as she walks through a building
While plot details about season two haven't been released yet, we do know some things thanks to some characters that have been cast.
Isabella Merced (Madame Web) will be joining the show as Dina, who starts out as Ellie's friend in the video game sequel The Last of Us Part II, but soon, the two share a kiss and decide to start dating.
Additionally, Kaitlyn Dever (Booksmart) will be joining the cast as Abby, a young woman out for revenge against Joel and Ellie. Both Abby and Dina are big characters in the second video game, so we can expect that the plot should cover some of what happens in that game.
We also know that the showrunners Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann have said that the content of the second game will be covered over "more than one season" of the TV show.
The Last of Us season 2 doesn't come out until 2025, so we'll have to see just how much of the game is covered. In the mean time, you can stream the first season of The Last of Us on Max.
