What a year for queer TV!
The 76th annual Primetime Emmy nominations were just announced this morning by Abbott Elementary star Sheryl Lee Ralph and Veep star Tony Hale. Among the nominees are plenty of our favorite queer stars and shows!
We'll find out who won when the Emmys take place on Sunday, September 15, airing on ABC.
In the meantime, here are some of the most notable queer noms!
1. RuPaul
RuPaul once again received a nomination for Outstanding Host for a Reality Program, an award Mama Ru has won eight times in a row. RuPaul's Drag Race was also nominated for both Outstanding Unstructured Reality Program and Reality Competition Program.
2. Kristen Kish
In her first year as host of Top Chef, replacing Padma Lakshmi, Kristen Kish has been nominated for Outstanding Host for a Reality Program! Top Chef is also up for Outstanding Reality Competition Program.
3. Alan Cumming
Cumming is the third queer host to be nominated for Outstanding Reality Host this year for his role on The Traitors, which is also up for Outstanding Reality Competition.
4. Matt Bomer
Matt Bomer picked up his second Emmy nomination in the category of Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie, this time for playing Hawk Fuller in Fellow Travelers.
5. Jonathan Bailey
Bomer's co-star Jonathan Bailey, who plays Tim Laughlin in Fellow Travelers, was also nominated in the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie.
6. Richard Gadd
Richard Gadd had a huge breakout year with his dark comedy Baby Reindeer. The series is up for Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series and he's nominated for Lead Actor and Writing for the series.
7. Jessica Gunning
Gunning, who plays Gadd's stalker Martha in the series, is up for her first Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie.
8. Nava Mau
Gadd and Gunning's co-star Mau has followed in the footsteps of trans actors like Laverne Cox and Michaela Jaé Rodriguez to earn an Emmy nomination in the same category as Gunning.
9. Tom Hollander
Tom Hollander earned his first Emmy nomination for playing Truman Capote in Feud: Capote Vs. The Swans. He's up for Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie.
10. Andrew Scott
Scott is nominated in the same category as Hollander, for his portrayal of Tom Ripley in Netflix's Ripley. The series is also up for Best Limited or Anthology Series.
11. Jodie Foster
Jodie Foster has her first Emmy nomination in a decade for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series for True Detective: Night Country, which is also up for Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series and Outstanding Writing.
12. Kali Ries
Foster's co-star Kali Ries earned her first nomination in the Outstanding Supporting Actress category.
13. Bowen Yang
Yang earned his third Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for Saturday Night Live. He was previously nominated in 2021 and 2022.
14. Red, White & Royal Blue
Amazon Prime Video's gay rom-com Red, White & Royal Blue is up for Outstanding Television Movie.
15. Hannah Einbinder
Einbinder earned her third nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for Hacks. The series is also up for Outstanding Comedy, Lead Actress for Jean Smart, and a total of 16 awards.
16. Holland Taylor
7-time Emmy nominee and 1999 winner for The Practice, Holland Taylor is up this year for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama for playing Cybil Richards in The Morning Show.
17. Sarah Paulson
Taylor's wife, Sarah Paulson, won an Emmy in 2016 for The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story, and has been nominated for seven others before this year. Now, she's up for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series for her role in Mr. & Mrs. Smith.
18. Lily Gladstone
Oscar-nominee Lily Gladstone earned her first Emmy nomination for Under the Bridge. She's nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a LImited or Anthology Series.
