Kaling also wrote the script.
Mindy Kaling and Emma Thompson will co-star in a new comedy series about a failing late night talk show, Deadline reports.
The series will see Thompson playing a late night talk show host in danger of losing her long-running program when her new first female writer, Kaling, breathes color back into the show and her personal life.
Principal photography is scheduled to begin in April in the as-yet-untitled show. The series will be financed by 30West and FilmNation Entertainment, with Kaling writing and producing. Transparent's Nisha Ganatra will direct (Ganatra has also worked on Dear White People, Girls, and The Mindy Project.)
